Motion Design
Here are a few selected pieces of my filming, editing and motion graphic design work since around 2004-ish. Most likely the 2004 stuff won’t be here because it probably looks pretty bad now…
Project: WTF – Intro and On-Line Editing
Client: Future Forward Media Group & Re:Source Media
Cinematography | Editing | Colour | Effects | Graphics
April 2010 – December 2010
This is a series that I’ve been lucky enough to be involved with from the (near) beginning. Produced by Re:Source Media and Future Forward, I was approached to shoot and design the intro sequence. The shows producer Warren Kimmel and editor Dennis Chan had the concept for the intro. So over 2 days in April we shot at Terminal 1 in Pearson Airport and then headed downtown to the Distillery District, the financial district, then finally ending up in an Italian restaurant. The shoot was good and the food was good. Everything was shot hand held with Canon 5dMkII. Edited in Final Cut with grading and effects taken care of in After Effects.
I continue with the show as the On-Line editor. Currently we finish the show on the Avid|DS Nitris. To find out more about the series and watch episodes go to www.whatthefuture.tv

April 2010
This was the footage from the WTF intro shoot. I wanted to get a sense for what we had before I did the actual intro edit for the show, so I cut it to one of my favourite U2 songs off No Line on the Horizon.
Project: Happy Magic Watercube
Client: Forrec
Producer | Director | Creative | Editing | Colour | Effects | Graphics
January 2010
This was a great project to work on. Forrec, an incredible architectural firm here in Toronto, hired me to create a film for The Happy Magic Watercube. An amazing waterpark that they were designing, to be housed in the Watercube. That Watercube, the one that was used for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. My job was to come up with a number of concepts for the end client in China, then direct the animation team at eSolutions to create the 3d. Everything (aside from the waterpark stock footage) was shot on the RED and the Canon 5D.
Project: TTG Promotional Campaign
Client: TTG Course Guide
Creative | Narration | Script Writing | Editing | Colour | Effects | Graphics
July 2010
This is part of a 2 video corporate branding campaign I recently completed for the folks at TTG. I scripted, voiced and created all the motion for the spot. Everything was done in the CS5 pipeline. Rough timeline edit for timing in Premiere, VO recorded in Soundbooth, all the motion created in AfterEffects, and everything sent back to Premiere for the final edit. Output was done with Adobe Media Encoder. The second video goes into more detail about what TTG offers, complete with client testimonials. That video is full of company secrets so its not for public consumption!
And here is an example of one of the course promo videos I’ve put together. When your golf course gets involved with TTG, we’ve partnered to offer a number of video and photography options to showcase the course on the web, in print and t.v. We basically provide the visuals that best suit the course. This video style below is meant to give a short 60 second overview of the course and what it has to offer. This first one was created for Pen Lakes in the Niagara region.
Project: For Sale Direct Commercial Campaign
Client: ForSaleDirect.ca
Creative | Narration | Script Writing | Editing | Colour | Effects | Graphics
December 2009
This was apart of a commercial campaign for ForSaleDirect.ca. What was cool was that I was hired to create a commercial for local broadcast here in Toronto. Instead of just creating a generic stand-up 30 second forgettable spot, I pitched the idea of doing a series of 15 second graphic spots that stayed true to the already cool brand the client had established. The client dug the idea and I produced 7 spots in total. Check out their site to see all the spots… and to sell your house. Otherwise, here is one of the commercials;
Project: Godlywood Intro
Client: Stornoway Productions
Creative | Editing| Colour | Effects | Graphics
2009
I get asked to cut alot of intros for pilot projects. A lot of stuff that doesn’t make it to air. It’s cool, someones got to do it. What makes it tough is that there usually isn’t alot of footage to work with and I usually get asked to just try to make something work. Sometimes that’s not the easiest thing to do, but this one was pretty easy to just play around with. This show is one of those that is still up in the air as to whether or not it will make it… Hopefully it does.
Project: CG the Bridge
Client: Stornoway Productions
Colour | Effects
2009
This is a composite shot I worked on for a client’s documentary. Original HD shot is of the 2 guys walking under the bridge which is actually an old, graffiti covered spot in Toronto, without any water and a bunch of overgrown trees at the one end. The shot is supposed to be of a bridge in London, England on the Thames. I cleaned up the graffiti, added the water, and the background matte of the Thames so that you can get a small glimpse of Waterloo Bridge.

Project: MSI series intro
Client: Stornoway Productions
Creative | Editing | Colour | Effects | Graphics
2008
I’ve been associated with MSI: Mercedes Stephenson Investigates from the beginning. This intro was created completely in After Effects with minimal video footage. As well as creating the intro and graphic design package for the series, i’m also the On-Line editor. Below is a look at the intro.
Project: Le Paradis Resort
Client: Imagenius
Creative Director | Director | Director of Photography | Script | Colour | Effects | Graphics
2009
This was one of my last films as the Creative Director of Imagenius. We were approached by a company who was building an incredible island resort in the Caribbean on the island of St. Lucia, and they wanted us to bring it to life in a big epic way. Unfortunately I didn’t get to travel to the island… but i did get to see pictures of it and I think we did it justice in the animation. My role was to come up with the concept for the film, direct it and finally edit it. The animation was done in China, and I edited it here in Canada. I provided the client with 2 edits, one a more informational tour and the second a visual impact type of movie trailer.

2006 – 2009
For nearly 4 years I was hired as the Creative Director for Imagenius Inc. We specialized in creating 3d Renderings and Animations for the estate industry. We worked with clients from all around the world including the U.S., Europe, Dubai, India, Russia and China. My role was to lead and direct our team here in Toronto and our international team of animators from Argentina, India and China.
Here are just a few of the films I produced, directed and edited while I was there.
Project: Motiema Music Video
Client: Murat Aksur (Director)
Editing | Colour | Effects
This was a video I cut back in 2005 for a Toronto band named Motiema. Not sure if they are still a “band” but the song is pretty catchy.
