My favourite band rolled into town last week and put on an incredible show. The first show in Toronto for U2′s 360 tour is the 9th time I’ve seen the band and it was basically what I had expected it to be… amazing. Visually it’s one of the most incredible stage and light show you could possibly imagine. The sound was just as good and a big part of that went to the fact that the dome was open (only the second time that has ever happened for a band… the first being Bruce Springsteen back in ’03). When the dome is closed it gets a little echoey and crap sounding. The set list was pretty good, all the usual suspects getting played, a ton of the new stuff and only the 2nd ever performance of “Your Blue Room”.
My friends and I managed to make it to the front row of the outer stage left. We could have gotten into the inner stage pit, but thought we’d have a better view from the outside (plus have a railing to lean on). My only regret from the show was not bringing my Canon Rebel in. Instead I brought my Elph. I was worried about lugging in my backpack, not being allowed in with it, blah, blah, blah… Where we ended up being it wouldn’t have been a problem at all and I would have been able to snag some much better pictures. That being said, out of the 100 or so I took, a couple turned out all right. Nothing spectacular, but good enough for memory sake of a great show.
